Biddulph Mansions

We prepared a 10 year planned maintenance schedule for the impressive Biddulph Mansions constructed in the early 20th century

This impressive collection of ten mansion blocks constructed in the early 20th century had deteriorated due to intermittent maintenance over the years. Biddulph Mansions were built between 1902 and 1904, designed by the architects Boehmer and Gibbs. The name of the mansion block was probably derived from Sir Thomas Biddulph who was a secretary to Queen Victoria.

Our defect diagnostics report highlighted immediate issues with falling masonry and defective stone.

We specified the remedial works and managed the works on site.  Replica moulded projections made of GRP replaced the existing stone which will reduce future maintenance and associated costs.

Services:

As well as defect diagnosis, our Building Consultancy team prepared a 10 year planned preventative maintenance schedule and provided specification and contract administration services for the works.

In addition we undertook the role of CDM Principal Designer. We also reviewed applications for licences for alterations. Due to our close consultation with the landlord and managing agent we ensured that the works did not detrimentally effect the landlord or other leaseholders.

With offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Norwich & Plymouth we can support projects requiring building consultancy services throughout the UK.
