Town Centre Campus, Bridgend College
We are delighted to have been appointed by Bridgend College as NEC Supervisor for their new £70m Town Centre Campus development.
The new 12,901 sqm development project comprises two new buildings providing state of the art teaching and learning facilities, a theatre, hair and beauty salons, recording and dance studios, design workshops, and more. The new building, once complete, will relocate facilities currently based at the Cowbridge Road Campus.
The main block will be situated on land occupied by the former town centre police station and the second block to be situated on a nearby former multi-storey car park which closed in April 2021 due to serious structural faults. Demolition of the car park will be procured by Bridgend Council and the site handed over to Willmott Dixon.
The new building has been designed to be as thermally efficient as possible, in line with Passivhaus principles to keep energy consumption to a minimum.
The project is part funded by the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme and will play a key role in the regeneration of Bridgend town centre, supporting local businesses and utilising public transport links into the town.
We have previously worked with Bridgend College as NEC Supervisor on the new STEAM Academy and Landbase buildings at the Pencoed Campus. We very much look forward to working with Andrew Gibbs and his team again along with Mark Ratcliff from WSP who have been appointed as Project Manager and Willmott Dixon as Contractor. The project is being delivered under the ECC NEC4 contract.
